NFL Players File Federal Antitrust Class Action Against The NFL

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the National Football League (the “NFL”) and NFL team owners in the United States District for the District of Minnesota.  The case is Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Vincent Jackson, Ben Leber, Logan Mankins, Peyton Manning, Von Miller, Brian Robison, Osi Umenyiora and Mike Vrabel v. National Football League, et al., Class Action Case No. 11-CV-00639-PJS-JJG).

The complaint alleges that the NFL and the NFL team owners jointly agreed and conspired to deny Plaintiffs the ability to provide and/or market their services in the major league market for professional football players through an unlawful boycott and price-fixing arrangement.  The complaint also alleges that the NFL and NFL team owners imposed anticompetetive restrictions on player movement, free agency and competitive market freedom, all in violation of federal antitrust laws.
