Mark A. Friel

Mark Friel litigates cases in state and federal court, and in private and court-mandated arbitrations. He also represents clients in mediations, both before and after the filing of cases. He is a trained mediator and arbitrator. Mark's practice focuses on securities, alternative dispute resolution, business litigation, class actions, unfair competition/trade secrets/noncompete agreements, consumer law, and antitrust.
Mark is a regular contributor to continuing legal education publications for the Oregon State Bar, and has co-authored chapters for such publications on motions practice, discovery, the attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine, fraud, and damages. Mark received his law degree from Boalt Hall in 2000.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, surfing and photography.

Representation of consumers in class actions under the Fair Credit Reporting Act against insurance companies and arising out of the use of consumer credit scores in connection with the setting of insurance premiums. Obtained class certification in several of those cases and favorable settlements on behalf of class members in other cases.
Antitrust:
Representation of consumers in class action against various multinational corporations alleging violations of federal and state antitrust laws in connection with the sale and distribution of optical disk drive products.
Securities:
Representation of shareholders in national class actions against publicly-traded corporations for securities fraud.
Investor/Broker-Dealer:
Representation of public investors and industry members in arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Unfair Competition/Trade Secrets/Breach of Fiduciary Duty:
Representation of former employees in disputes with their former employers in litigation over alleged breaches of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.
Employment:
Representation of delivery drivers in class actions against their employers for allegedly misclassifying drivers as independent contractors and for allegedly violating state and federal wage and hour laws.
