Mark A. Friel

Mark Friel is a trial lawyer who litigates cases in federal and state court, and in private and court-mandated arbitrations. Mark's practice focuses on securities litigation, class actions and complex litigation.
Mark is a regular contributor to continuing legal education publications for the Oregon State Bar, and has co-authored chapters for such publications on motions practice, discovery, the attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine, fraud, and damages. Mark received his law degree from Boalt Hall in 2000.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, surfing and photography.

Representative Cases:
Consumer Class Action:
Represented consumers in several class actions under the Fair Credit Reporting Act against insurance companies and arising out of the use of consumer credit scores in connection with the setting of insurance premiums. Obtained class certification in several of those cases and favorable settlements on behalf of class members in other cases.
Securities Class Action:
Currently representing shareholders in a national class action against a publicly-traded corporation for securities fraud.
Investor/Broker-Dealer:
Represented public investors and industry members in arbitrations before the National Association of Securities Dealers (currently known as FINRA).
Unfair Competition/Trade Secrets/Breach of Fiduciary Duty:
Represented former employees in disputes with their former companies in litigation stemming from former employees' start-up of competing business.
