Home Depot credit card data hacked

Data SecurityHome Depot credit card data has been found on black market sites.  Some suggest that Russian or Ukrainian hackers may be responsible.  The breach may have occurred as early as the spring of this year.

This adds a third corporation to the list of those that have been victimized by identify theft criminals, in addition to Target and Neiman Marcus.  Home Depot indicated that it would make customers whole if fraudulent charges were made on their accounts, and they will offer free identity protection services, including credit monitoring, to any potentially impacted customers.  These are the same incentives that Target offered to consumers affected by its data theft last fall.
