Macmillan to settle e-book price fixing class action for $20 million

Antitrust CasesMacmillan, a division of publisher Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck, agreed to settle claims involving allegations that the company planned an electronic book price fixing scheme with Apple Inc.  The U.S. Department of Justice alleged that Macmillan conspired with Apple to challenge, Inc.’s dominance in the e-books market.  

Under the settlement Macmillan has agreed to pay $20 million to consumers.  Macmillan did not admit wrongdoing pursuant to the settlement and Apple continues to defend the allegations.
